Best Allotment 2025

Frank Matthewson receives the Littlemoor Allotments Association Challenge Cup for best allotment in 2025. Well done Frank!

A busy month in the poly tunnel

One month on from the start of the big spring clean of the poly tunnel (see photo below), Lesley and the team have been busy sowing vegetable and flower seeds in preparation for the popular Sunday morning plant stall on Little Moor. The tunnel is almost full, many seeds are already appearing, and in another week we will begin a second sowing of the more popular plants.

Jim hangs up his spade

After 23 years as an allotment holder on the Little Moor site, and having played a major part in the Association, Jim Lowery has finally decided to hang up his spade and focus his considerable horticultural skills on the garden at his new house. Read more about Jim’s contributions to the site in his notes below:

Polytunnel gets a revamp

Following on from Frank’s decision to step down from his responsibility for the polytunnel, his sterling work will be continued by a team of volunteers, headed up by Lesley Greenwood. Work began on 8th March to clear out the staging, clean the plastic covering and level the floor. It is hoped that the revamped tunnel will be ready for sowing seeds in the next week. If anyone is interested in joining Lesley and the team, please join us at the polytunnel on the North side on a Sunday morning from 10am.
